KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- The luck of the draw favoured Kedah when they were drawn to play minnows Melaka in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup football competition.
Kedah, who are also in the driver's seat in the Super League, play the first leg match away at the Hang Tuah Stadium in Melaka on April 8 and the return leg at their home stadium, the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star, on April 22.
Kedah assistant team manager Syed Khairol Anuar Syed Abidin said that although Melaka are in ninth place in the Premier League, they would not take their opponents lightly. "They might turn out to be "giant killers", he told reporters after the draw for the final eight teams in the competition held at Angkasapuri here Saturday.
Kedah qualified for the last eight after defeating Sarawak on a 5-0 aggregate in their final qualifying round while Melaka despatched off Proton FC on a 6-4 aggregate.
Following are quarter final fixtures:
First leg (April 8):
1. Melaka vs Kedah, Stadium Hang Tuah, Melaka, 8.45pm
2. Pahang vs Sabah, Stadium Darul Makmur, Kuantan, 8.45pm
3. Kuala Muda NAZA vs Selangor, Stadium Darul Aman, Alor Star, 8.45pm
4. Terengganu vs Felda United FC, Stadium Sultan Ismail Nasirudddin Shah, Kuala Terengganu, 8.45pm
Return Leg (April 22):
1. Kedah vs Melaka, Stadium Darul Aman, Alor Star, 8.45pm
2. Sabah vs Pahang, Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu, 8.15pm
3. Selangor vs Kuala Muda NAZA, Stadium Shah Alam, 8.45pm
4. Felda United FC vs Terengganu, Stadium Bolasepak Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, 8.45pm
